Bournemouth's Spanish defender Alex Jimenez has joined Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan, bbc.co.uk reported. The deal includes a 20 million euros (£17m) option to make the move permanent. The loan allows Jimenez to continue playing after being suspended by Bournemouth pending the outcome of an investigation into social media allegations.
The 21-year-old was dropped from Bournemouth's first team in May following what the club said was a "serious matter" relating to "posts circulating on social media". "The club wishes Alex well for the season ahead as he links up with Fiorentina," the Cherries said. Jimenez initially joined Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan before signing permanently in February on a deal running until 2031.
The Spain Under-21s international made 32 appearances for Bournemouth last season, scoring once in a 3-2 home win over Liverpool in February.
