Buffalo Bills Bar O.J. Simpson From New Stadium Honors but Kept His Name on Old Stadium Wall of Fame for Decades

The Buffalo Bills announced they will not honor former running back O.J. Simpson among the franchise's legends at their new Highmark Stadium. Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli stated the team made an organizational decision that Simpson is not a fit to display inside the new stadium and family circle.

The family circle area outside the stadium will instead honor other legends from the team's Wall of Fame, display team and Western New York history, and feature the team's three bison statues. Simpson's name had appeared on the Wall of Fame at the old stadium since its creation in 1980, when he became the first inductee.

ESPN reported that as recently as spring 2026 the Bills continued debating whether to include him in the new area, with the design team preparing for both possibilities.

Simpson is likely the only Wall of Fame member excluded from the family circle honors. Simpson was ordered to pay $33.5 million in damages to the Brown and Goldman families after a civil wrongful death case.
