Chainalysis reported that some Chinese laboratories previously linked to fentanyl precursors have redirected production to peptides. The analysis placed annual crypto payments to peptide vendors above $100 million.
WiredChainalysis published an analysis this week showing that certain Chinese laboratories have moved from selling fentanyl precursors to manufacturing and selling peptides. The firm measured crypto flows to peptide sellers at more than $100 million annually and noted continued growth.
The same laboratories had previously supplied chemicals used in illicit opioid production. Chainalysis stated the switch appears aimed at capitalizing on social-media interest in peptides while reducing exposure to law-enforcement actions targeting opioid supply chains.
Peptides are short chains of amino acids sold online for uses that include weight management and skin care. The market remains largely unregulated in the United States.

When the handshake fails, the app removes the contact photo and flags the call as potentially fraudulent. The protection applies only when both parties use Google Dialer, leaving iPhone users outside its coverage.

The Manhattan Institute circulated draft state legislation that would classify certain minor protest-related violations as felonies under a proposed category labeled “civil terrorism.” The organization previously contributed to 1990s broken-windows policing policies and federal efforts to restrict diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
Researchers described a JavaScript-based technique called FROST that measures SSD read times to generate fingerprints of other open browser tabs and, in some cases, installed applications. The method trains a neural network on input-output signatures of common software. No confirmed instances of the attack occurring outside research settings have been reported.
