Irish billionaire Dermot Desmond is scheduled to meet Robbie Keane and Martin O'Neill in London over the next few days to discuss the Celtic managerial role. GB News reported that Desmond has no other candidates under consideration and that a decision is anticipated before the week concludes. Robbie Keane, 45, left Hungarian club Ferencváros after 18 months in charge.

He won both the Hungarian league championship and cup during his tenure, having previously secured the Israeli title with Maccabi Tel Aviv. Keane had a loan spell at Celtic in 2010 and has identified former Celtic midfielders Scott Brown and Johnny Hayes as potential additions to his coaching staff. Martin O'Neill, 74, stepped into the Celtic managerial role twice during the 2025-26 campaign.

He guided the club to the Scottish league title and Scottish Cup, including a victory over Dunfermline in the cup final. After the final, O'Neill left the door open to beginning the new season in charge but acknowledged he was not the ideal choice for a longer-term appointment.

The possibility of O'Neill continuing alongside assistants Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham remains under consideration following the domestic success.

Keane, by contrast, is prepared to sign a three-year term at Celtic. Wales manager Craig Bellamy has removed himself from consideration for the Celtic job. He said: "Wales have given me this opportunity and I'm really grateful for that.

Celtic secured their league title with a dramatic late victory against Hearts and now face Champions League play-off commitments. Sir Kenny Dalglish is 75 years old.
