Federal prosecutors release video of Chicago vehicle ramming attack on ICE officer

Federal prosecutors on Thursday released video of a vehicle ramming attack on an ICE officer in Chicago. The footage shows an SUV striking a law enforcement pickup truck and pushing it down a Chicago street. Tires on the SUV smoked as it continued through the parking lane before stopping. An armed officer exited the pickup truck and approached the SUV, which then drove away.

Incident details Authorities released the video alongside the indictment of Diego Emmanuel Reyes, 21. Prosecutors accused him of driving the Chevrolet Tahoe during the crash. He faces a charge of assaulting the ICE officer with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred during Operation Midway Blitz, an immigration enforcement operation in the Chicago area. The indictment was issued Wednesday.

Official response A federal attorney described the attack as a dangerous and brazen act of violence against a federal agent and an attack on the rule of law. The attorney's office stated it will not tolerate conduct that assaults, impedes, intimidates, or interferes with lawful federal operations.
