Fire Point Signs Deal with Hensoldt to Produce Ballistic-Missile Defense System
Ukrainian firm Fire Point agreed with Hensoldt to build the FP-7.X interceptor. The company produces drones used in strikes deep inside Russia and now expands into missile defense. Defense News reported the details of the partnership and production plans.

Fire Point signed an agreement with Hensoldt to produce the Freyja ballistic-missile defense system, Defense News reported. X interceptor is designed to hit targets at 15 miles altitude for about $700,000 per shot. Fire Point produces the FP-1 deep-strike drone, the FP-2 drone and the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile.
Company co-founder Denys Shtilerman said Fire Point drones carry out about 60 percent of Ukraine’s strikes inside Russia. An FP-2 drone struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Tyumen region on June 20, 2026, 1,286 miles from the Ukrainian border. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved a fresh slate of long-range strike plans in May 2026.
He stated on June 10 that Ukraine’s long-range sanctions plan is being implemented as intended and said in his June 20 evening address that new FP drones can reach targets at 3,000 kilometers. Ukraine logged at least 28 strikes on Russian oil infrastructure in June. Fire Point is in talks with Thales on radar, Leonardo on tracking and Kongsberg on command and control for Freyja.
Shtilerman told Reuters in April that the goal is to bring a ballistic missile down for under $1 million per shot and that the company plans to intercept the first ballistic missile at the end of 2027. The company did not exist before Russia’s 2022 invasion, when it was a film and television casting agency, and now holds more than $1 billion in Ukrainian government deals in 2026. Fire Point named former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to its advisory board in November 2025.
Shtilerman wrote on X on May 14 that Fire Point is joining the anti-ballistic coalition. The company aims to deliver drones with 1,864-mile range by summer 2026.
