Frontier Airlines to Offer Starlink In-Flight Wi-Fi Starting Early 2027

Frontier Airlines will begin providing in-flight Wi-Fi through SpaceX's Starlink network on its Airbus aircraft in early 2027. The first equipped plane is scheduled to enter service that year, giving passengers access for streaming, gaming and other uses. Starlink will also deliver gate-to-gate connectivity for pilots, flight attendants, maintenance crews and ground operations.

Frontier said the link will improve operational performance and customer service. The carrier described the service as the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky. Frontier currently provides no onboard internet. One day before the announcement its website stated that flights offer neither Wi-Fi, television nor electrical outlets as part of its strategy to keep fares low.

The airline has since reversed that position. Frontier CEO Jimmy Dempsey said the company is continuing to invest in products and services that matter most to customers. He cited recent additions of first-class seating and expanded loyalty perks.

Frontier was one of the last major U.S. carriers without Wi-Fi. Cebu Pacific, JetSMART, Volaris and Wizz Air will offer the same Starlink service. The five budget carriers share a common investor, private equity firm Indigo Partners.

Starlink is set to equip more than 1,000 aircraft across those airlines. Pricing and usage parameters for the Frontier service have not yet been announced.
