Haeran Ryu Wins Evian Championship in Playoff for Second Straight Major
South Korean golfer Haeran Ryu defeated Brooke Henderson on the first extra hole Sunday to claim the Evian Championship. The victory marked her second consecutive major title after she won the Women's PGA Championship three weeks earlier.

Haeran Ryu won the Evian Championship on Sunday after defeating Brooke Henderson in a playoff on the first extra hole at Evian Golf Resort in Evian-les-Bains, France. Ryu and Henderson finished regulation tied at 19-under par. Ryu birdied the 18th hole to force the playoff after shooting a level-par 71 in the final round.
Henderson closed with a 64 that included back-to-back eagles on the front nine and a hole-in-one. Ryu had held a three-shot lead after the third round but could not make a putt for most of the final round. She said afterward that the round tested her patience.
“It was so tough today because my putt always missed the cup,” Ryu said. ” A day earlier Ryu had set the LPGA major scoring record with an 11-under 60 that gave her an 18-under total of 194 after 54 holes. The round broke the previous mark of 61, set three times at the Evian Championship.
Ryu, 25, also won the Women’s PGA Championship on June 29 at Hazeltine. “Before these three weeks, I didn’t have a major championship — now two in a row,” she said while holding the trophy. ” Aki Iwai finished third after a 65 in the third round.
Nelly Korda, who won the first two majors of 2026, missed the cut. The Women’s British Open, the final major of the year, begins July 30 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes.
