Hornets and Suns Swap Miles Bridges for Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and 2033 First-Round Pick
The Charlotte Hornets agreed to send forward Miles Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns. In return, Charlotte receives guards Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale plus an unprotected 2033 first-round pick. The deal was reached on June 28 and will be completed after the NBA moratorium ends on July 6.

The Charlotte Hornets agreed to trade forward Miles Bridges, a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick to the Phoenix Suns for guard Grayson Allen, forward Royce O'Neale and an unprotected 2033 first-round pick. The 2029 selection sent to Phoenix is the least favorable of Charlotte's, Utah's, Minnesota's and Cleveland's picks, with Minnesota's top-five protected.
The 2027 second-rounder is the least favorable of Boston's and Orlando's selections.
The 2033 pick moving to Charlotte is Phoenix's own unprotected selection. The trade was agreed to on June 28 and will be finalized when the NBA moratorium period ends on July 6. Bridges enters the final year of his contract at $22.8 million and is eligible for an extension this offseason.
Allen is due $18.1 million in 2026-27 with a $19.4 million player option for 2027-28. O'Neale holds a guaranteed $10.9 million salary next season and $11.6 million the year after. The Suns will reduce their projected luxury tax bill by approximately $30 million.
Depending on structuring, they could also create a $10.9 million traded player exception. The Hornets sit tentatively $41.8 million below the luxury tax line after the deal and could create a $40.8 million trade exception from their earlier LaMelo Ball transaction.
Days before this agreement, Charlotte traded guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves for center Naz Reid and another unprotected 2033 first-round pick.
With Reid expected to start at power forward, Bridges no longer holds a starting role. The Hornets now control two unprotected 2033 first-round selections. 822. He converted at least 35 percent from three-point range in only one of his seven NBA seasons.
Allen made 35 percent of his three-pointers in 2025-26 after exceeding 40 percent in each of the prior two seasons. O'Neale has shot 41 percent from three on high volume over the past two seasons and has missed no more than seven games in any season since 2017-18. Allen missed part of Phoenix's playoff series with a hamstring injury.
