Videos circulating on social media show an unidentified female employee striking a male guest with a plate at a cafe inside the Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The employee continued throwing objects at the guest and his female companion while shouting in Spanish.
A security guard attempted to calm the worker as she flipped over a large coffee brewer and knocked down an oven.
Incident details In a separate video, the employee grabbed a knife while continuing to throw objects behind the counter. A person recording the scene urged her to stop. The first videos appeared online late Thursday. The exact date of the incident remains unknown.
Company response The Palace Company, which operates the resort, said it prioritizes the safety, security and well-being of tourists and workers. The Moon Palace The Grand Punta Cana opened June 1 and features 2,171 suites and an 18-hole golf course.
