IDF Establishes Security Zone in Central Gaza Amid Ongoing Operations

This line marks Israeli control over approximately 60% of Gaza's territory. The zone includes defensive setups with lighting and cameras, located kilometers into the area.

Engineering equipment is used to destroy buildings and clear infrastructure to prevent reuse and maintain surveillance around the Yellow Line. Prior to October 7, 2023, Hamas positions were located near the border fence and gathered intelligence on Israeli activities.

Now, IDF forces conduct operations to detect and strike attempts to approach the Yellow Line, including above ground, below ground, and from the air.

Recent Incident and Tunnel Operations About

a month and a half ago, observers in the Gaza Division identified several armed figures moving toward the Yellow Line. Tanks and aircraft responded, resulting in the deaths of the figures, who were later identified as a Hamas company commander and four others. They had been trapped in an underground network for months.

A journal found on the company commander described surviving on food scraps, herbal plants, and water while waiting for an opportunity to return to central Gaza. Intelligence analysis confirmed this as the final elimination of the commander, previously targeted during Operation Iron Swords. Battalion commanders in the sector have authority to address immediate threats independently.

Preservation of Structures Certain

structures in the area, such as the Turkey-Palestine Friendship Hospital established in 2017, have been preserved despite surrounding destruction.

The hospital, located near the Nitzarim Corridor, was shut down due to the war. Similarly, a Palestinian Red Crescent building remains intact. The Al-Azhar University complex, including the Al-Mouarraka campus, sustained severe damage from airstrikes.

In the security positions, reserve soldiers engage in routine activities, including operating drones from command centers. The Nitzach Yehuda Battalion occupies a sector in the northern brigade of the Gaza Division.
