A Brazilian regulator has published photos of an unreleased Xbox controller designed for cloud gaming. The images, released by Brazil's Anatel regulator and published by Tecnoblog on May 14, 2026, show a smaller controller that connects directly to Xbox Cloud Gaming servers via Wi-Fi.

The controller includes 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB-C port. It also features a pairing button at the top, along with a D-Pad, bumpers, and triggers. Both white and black models appear in the photos. The new controller looks smaller than existing Xbox controllers.

It includes its own rechargeable 500mAh battery, unlike Microsoft's standard controllers that use AA batteries or removable rechargeable packs. The company had been developing the controller since at least early 2026. It is separate from a new Xbox controller originally planned for 2024 alongside a canceled Xbox Series X refresh.

The device is designed to support the company's expanded cloud gaming efforts with Game Pass.

The leaked images show a design similar to third-party controllers from companies such as 8BitDo and HyperX. The presence of dedicated Wi-Fi hardware allows the controller to connect directly to cloud gaming servers without relying on a console or PC as an intermediary.

Microsoft is also testing free ad-supported access to cloud games. The company is preparing to launch an Xbox Elite Controller Series 3 later in 2026.
