The agreement focuses on deepening collaboration in development, production, and niche technologies. It was reached during a three-day visit by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Germany, aimed at strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership.
A planned US$8 billion submarine cooperation agreement is expected to be finalized soon, according to statements from the German defence minister. The ministers visited a Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems facility during the trip. Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems is set to partner with India's Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders for submarine manufacturing.
“I am very, very confident that we will be able to sign the agreement soon, especially today following the talks with His Excellency Singh and his delegation,”
The road map is intended to support India's efforts to modernize its undersea fleet. It also aligns with Europe's interest in expanding its security presence in the Indo-Pacific region. The agreement builds on ongoing bilateral ties between the two countries.
