Iowa Democrats Nominate Turek for Senate and Sand for Governor in Tuesday Primaries
Josh Turek won the Democratic nomination for an open U.S. Senate seat by more than 25 points. State Auditor Rob Sand secured the party's nomination for governor without opposition.

Turek will face Representative Ashley Hinson in November.
VoteVets, an organization aligned with Senate Democrats, spent several million dollars supporting Turek's primary campaign.
Sand, the 43-year-old state auditor, had no primary opponent.
He will face Zach Lahn, who defeated Representative Randy Feenstra in the Republican primary. Lahn, who moved back to Iowa in 2023 after living in Kansas, received support from former Representative Steve King. The Cook Political Report recently moved both the Senate and governor's races toward greater competitiveness.
Three of Iowa's four U.S. House seats are also viewed as potentially competitive.
