Japanese Team Completes 34th Cleft-Lip Surgery Mission in Vietnam

The Japan Cleft Palate Foundation sent a team of 58 medical professionals to Vinh Long province in Vietnam for its annual volunteer mission providing free cleft-lip and palate surgeries. The group operated at Nguyen Dinh Chieu General Hospital from March 21 to March 29. Vinh Long province lies about 90 kilometers south of Ho Chi Minh City.
The 1,400-bed hospital served as the base for the mission after team members completed a three-hour drive that crossed the Mekong River. The foundation, based in Nagoya, has conducted these volunteer missions in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta for 34 years. Executive Director Nagato Natsume participated in the 2026 effort.
