The New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games to win the NBA championship, securing the franchise's first title since 1973, Newsweek reported. Jalen Brunson was named Finals MVP after averaging 32.6 points per game in the series. The Knicks had earlier swept the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Landry Shamet provided key bench production throughout the postseason, making 29 three-point shots at a 47.5 percent clip. Shamet completed his second season with the Knicks. On Monday the Knicks agreed to a four-year, $24 million contract that keeps Shamet in New York.
His agent, George S. Langberg of GSL Sports Group, worked with Knicks executives on the deal, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported. "I love Knicks fans. I love New York," Shamet said after the Eastern Conference Finals sweep.
