McGregor Claims Nurmagomedov Has Done Nothing in MMA Ahead of Their UFC 229 Fight

Conor McGregor said Khabib Nurmagomedov has done nothing in MMA during an interview with Complex published July 8. McGregor pointed to Nurmagomedov's 13 UFC fights and three bouts against name opponents while listing his own circumstances ahead of their meeting. The two fought at UFC 229 in Las Vegas in October 2018.

Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor by fourth-round submission in the highest-selling UFC pay-per-view event. McGregor had not competed in the octagon for 23 months after beating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 and had boxed Floyd Mayweather in between. McGregor stated he was coming off the yacht, partying heavily, and dealing with multiple court cases at the time.

He added that he fought with a broken toe after breaking his foot three weeks earlier and was worth $200 million. He said Nurmagomedov missed weight, never fought above his division, and recorded no stoppages or knockouts in major fights. McGregor also noted that Nurmagomedov's first 12 wins occurred on his father's shows against opponents with 0-0 records.
