Michigan City Man Receives 60-Month Prison Sentence for Controlled Substance Offense
A federal judge sentenced Michigan City resident Anthony J. Davis Jr. to 60 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentence triggers five years of supervised release and requires forfeiture of $1,000 in drug proceeds to the U.S. government.
A federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana sentenced Anthony J. Davis Jr., 32, of Michigan City, Indiana, to 60 months in prison on May 14, 2026, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
The sentence covers one count of a controlled substance offense under federal drug statutes. Davis must serve five years of supervised release following his prison term and forfeit $1,000 in proceeds tied to the offense, per the Department of Justice release.
The case originated from law enforcement seizures that included 4,486 kilograms of methamphetamine, 68.6 grams of fentanyl, two firearms and ammunition. Davis pleaded guilty as part of a resolution that resolved the charges without trial.
The 60-month term becomes effective immediately upon sentencing. Prior to this judgment, Davis remained in custody following his arrest and indictment in the Northern District of Indiana. The new status shifts him from pretrial detention to Bureau of Prisons custody for the full term, after which he enters supervised release under court-specified conditions that include drug testing and restrictions on travel and associations.
Downstream, the forfeiture hands $1,000 directly to the U.S. Treasury. The five-year supervised release period requires the U.S. Probation Office to monitor compliance starting in 2031. Any violation resets federal revocation proceedings that can return Davis to prison.
The conviction also bars Davis from federal firearms possession for life under 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) and affects his eligibility for certain federal benefits.
This sentencing is one of multiple methamphetamine trafficking cases prosecuted in the Northern District of Indiana in 2025-2026. The Department of Justice has pursued similar charges under 21 U.S.C. § 841 in the region following large-scale interdictions that target distribution networks supplying northern Indiana and southern Michigan.
