The Verge reported that the device marks the company’s second attempt to pair an Arm-based Nvidia processor with a flagship Windows portable after writing off $900 million on an earlier effort.
The RTX Spark chip provides up to 20 CPU cores, 6,144 GPU cores, and support for as much as 128GB of unified memory, though some configurations will ship with 16GB.
Nvidia stated that the chip delivers up to 1 petaflop of AI compute and roughly RTX 5070 laptop-level graphics performance. Microsoft said the Surface Laptop Ultra includes a 15-inch mini-LED touchscreen with 262 pixels per inch and 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness.
