Mystics Edge Fire 124-123 in WNBA's Second Four-Overtime Game After Late Tie

The Washington Mystics defeated the Portland Fire 124-123 on Sunday in a game that extended to four overtimes, marking only the second such contest in WNBA history. Sonia Citron scored a career-high 32 points for the Mystics and delivered the basket that gave her team the lead for good with 21.4 seconds left.

Michaela Onyenwere added a career-high 30 points and Kiki Iriafen finished with 27, making the Mystics the first team in league history to feature three players with at least 27 points in one game.

Carla Leite led the Fire with 32 points and banked in a three-pointer with 0.4 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime at 87-87. Sarah Ashlee Barker scored 25 points and Megan Gustafson added 20 for Portland. The two teams combined for 247 points, the second-highest total in a WNBA game including playoffs.

The contest featured 21 ties and 12 lead changes and lasted three hours and 35 minutes. Eight players logged at least 45 minutes, the most in any WNBA game. Mystics guard Georgia Amoore exited with right knee soreness and did not return.

The previous four-overtime game occurred on July 3, 2001, when Washington defeated Seattle 72-69.
