Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is scheduled to arrive in Seoul on Thursday night and begin a series of meetings with South Korean business leaders on Friday. The meetings are expected to cover artificial intelligence and robotics cooperation. Industry sources said SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Naver founder and board chair Lee Hae-jin are expected to attend.
Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Chung Euisun is positively considering taking part in the discussions. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong is not expected to attend due to his overseas schedule. Naver and Nvidia are in discussions for Huang to visit Naver 1784, the company's second office building in Gyeonggi Province south of Seoul, possibly next Monday.
The 28-story building serves as a test bed for Naver's technologies including robots, cloud and 5G networks. AMD CEO Lisa Su visited Naver 1784 in March and signed a memorandum of understanding with Naver on AI infrastructure-related partnerships. Huang's trip comes about seven months after his previous visit to South Korea for the APEC CEO Summit in Gyeongju.
During that visit, Huang joined Lee Jae-yong and Chung Euisun for a late-night meal of Korean fried chicken and beer. Huang delivered a speech during an all-employee celebration at the construction site of Constellation, Nvidia's Taiwan headquarters, in Taipei on May 27, 2026. The planned meetings follow a sharp rally in South Korean AI-linked stocks.
LG Electronics shares surged 30 percent for a second straight session, bringing gains this year to more than 300 percent. Samsung Electronics shares rose 10 percent, pushing the company's gains this year to about 190 percent. South Korea's benchmark Kospi index rose more than 4 percent and is up over 100 percent this year.
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix became trillion-dollar companies last month. South Korea's semiconductor exports in May surged by nearly 170 percent to a record high. The country's total exports in May posted their strongest growth in more than four decades.
Analysts note that while AI demand is growing rapidly, adding meaningful new manufacturing capacity typically requires at least two years. KB Securities analyst Jeff Kim described the current environment as one that could support a longer growth cycle for South Korean suppliers.
