Baltimore Orioles third baseman Blaze Alexander suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left hand after being hit by a pitch Sunday, manager Craig Albernaz said. The incident occurred in the seventh inning of the Orioles' 8-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.
Royals reliever Lucas Erceg threw an inside fastball that struck Alexander on the left hand. Alexander took a few steps toward first base before shouting at Erceg. Players from both dugouts and bullpens emptied onto the field near home plate. No punches were thrown and no one was ejected.
