Qatar Orders All Maritime Vessels to Suspend Sailing in Its Waters

Qatar's Ministry of Transport ordered all maritime vessels and fishing boats to suspend sailing until further notice. The directive applies to every type of vessel operating in Qatari waters and follows reports of attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. U.S.

India's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on the container ship GFS Galaxy off Oman, noting that ten of eleven Indian crew members were rescued while one remains missing.

"Our embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation and proactively coordinating with the Omani authorities in the ongoing search-and-rescue operation," India's Foreign Ministry said on July 12, 2026. The Strait of Hormuz carries about 20 percent of global energy supplies.
