U.S. Forces Strike 140 Iranian Military Targets in Three Rounds

U.S. Central Command said U.S. forces struck 140 Iranian military targets on Saturday. The strikes formed the third round of air operations against Iran in the past week. Targets included a communications tower in Kerman province and a military facility near Yasuj in Kohgiluyeh Boyer-Ahmad province. Two people were injured at the Kerman site and evacuated by helicopter.

The three rounds of strikes over the past three or four nights represented the heaviest bombardment since the announcement of the MoU. Iran retaliated by attacking countries in the region that host U.S. forces. Qatar stated that the continuation of the attacks constitutes a serious escalation that complicates efforts to contain tensions in the region.

Kuwait condemned the Iranian attacks on its territory and said the continuation of such attacks will exacerbate tension and instability. Kuwait added that it reserves all rights to take necessary measures to protect its security and sovereignty in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.

India condemned the attack on the container ship GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman. Ten of the eleven Indian nationals aboard were rescued, while one crew member remains missing. India’s embassy in Oman is coordinating with Omani authorities in the ongoing search-and-rescue operation for the missing crew member.
