A right-handed reliever who appeared in more than 320 major league games was released earlier this week after pitching for a Triple-A affiliate. The pitcher had joined the organization earlier this season on a minor league contract. He posted a 3.97 ERA in more than 22 innings before the release, according to the official transaction log.

The reliever spent six seasons with the Boston Red Sox, including the team's 2018 World Series championship run. He appeared in 34 regular-season games and nine postseason innings that year. He later pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers and contributed to their 2024 World Series title. Across nine major league seasons he compiled a 3.90 career ERA.

Last season the pitcher recorded a 4.50 ERA in 26 innings. His performance at the Triple-A level this year was described as decent before the release. At 38 years old, the reliever is now a free agent seeking another opportunity.
