sbs.com.auAustralian forward Sam Kerr has signed a contract with Gotham FC that extends through 2030, the club announced on Monday. Kerr spent the past seven years with Chelsea FC in England, where she won five Women's Super League titles and reached the UEFA Women's Champions League final in 2021.
She scored 116 goals across all competitions during that period. Kerr previously played in the NWSL for Sky Blue FC from 2015 to 2017 and for the Chicago Red Stars from 2018 to 2020. She first entered the league in 2013 with the Western New York Flash.
Kerr made her senior debut for Australia at age 15 and has recorded 75 goals in 139 appearances. She captained the national team to the 2023 Women's World Cup semifinals. Gotham FC rebranded in 2021 and has since won two NWSL Championships, the 2026 NWSL Challenge Cup, and the Concacaf W Champions Cup.
"I'm incredibly excited to return to Gotham FC and to this city," Kerr said. U.S. women's national team captain Lindsey Heaps is scheduled to join Denver Summit FC. Kerr will be reunited with several former teammates, including defender Mandy Freeman, midfielder Savannah McCaskill, and defender Tierna Davidson.
