Sam Neill died Monday at age 78 from pneumonia, his manager said Wednesday. Philip Grenz, the actor's manager, stated that Neill passed away from pneumonia. Grenz added that Neill had valiantly fought and beaten lymphoma through a new treatment called CAR-T therapy before becoming sick.
An earlier statement announcing the death said Neill was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life. The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Neill remained cancer free. Neill had filmed four projects in the past year, all of which would be released in the coming months, Grenz said.
The family will hold a private memorial at Neill's farm in New Zealand at a still-undetermined later date. " He was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022.
