Williams ended months of speculation with a social media video posted on Monday. The post carried the caption “Good news travels fast.” The WTA stated her partner will be announced later. Media reports indicated the partner is 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko.
““Queen’s Club feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter. Aryna Sabalenka called the return “very good news for tennis.” Naomi Osaka said the appearance would draw more viewers. Coco Gauff wrote on social media that “dreams come true.” Former world number one Lindsay Davenport noted that some players had recently practiced with Williams in Florida. She added that the physical demands of a full match remain uncertain.”
Williams last played in 2022 and became eligible again in February after re-registering for the antidoping program. She has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 14 doubles titles. WTA Chairwoman Valerie Camillo said the return reflects Williams’s continued passion for competition. The organization expects increased attendance at the event.
