Shohei Ohtani to Serve as Designated Hitter for Dodgers Versus Yankees

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani had fluid drained from his left knee after Sunday's game to relieve irritation, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday. The procedure did not include an injection. Ohtani is taking a few days of vacation before the second half begins.
Ohtani will be in the lineup as a designated hitter at a minimum when the Dodgers open the second half Friday against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, Roberts said. The two-time World Series champion club plays a three-game series there. Ohtani was previously ruled out for Tuesday's All-Star Game.
It remains undecided whether Ohtani will pitch in the series, Roberts said. "We haven't decided that yet," he added. 293 with 22 home runs and 58 RBIs this season while posting an 8-2 record with a 1.79 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 85⅔ innings over 14 starts, ESPN reported.
The four-time MVP has combined hitting and pitching duties for the Dodgers.
