Football Australia announced that coach Tony Popovic has signed a short-term contract extension that keeps him in charge of the Socceroos through the 2027 Asian Cup. The extension adds seven months to his existing agreement. It covers the period leading into the tournament scheduled to begin January 7 in Saudi Arabia.
preparation Popovic said his immediate focus remains the 2026 World Cup. Australia opens that tournament against Turkey, followed by matches against the United States and Paraguay.
