SpaceX Publishes Specifications for Next-Generation Starlink Satellites
@SawyerMerritt reported that SpaceX launched a new site detailing next-generation Starlink V3 satellites. The satellites provide 1 Tbps downlink capacity and 2,048 beams in each direction. A Starship launch will deliver about 20 times the network capacity of a Falcon 9 carrying V2 satellites.

SpaceX introduced a new website for its next-generation Starlink V3 satellites. @SawyerMerritt reported the site includes detailed specifications showing major capacity gains over prior versions. The satellites deliver 1 Tbps downlink capacity and 160 Gbps uplink capacity.
They carry 2,048 downlink beams and 2,048 uplink beams, compared with 192 downlink beams and 144 uplink beams on V2 satellites. Each V3 satellite includes six 400 Gbps laser links and four quad-band RF backhaul antennas operating across Ka, E, V, and W bands. RF backhaul capacity reaches 1.2 Tbps.
Upgraded phased array antennas, new beamformer chips, and modem chips that handle roughly 64 times more throughput per chip support the increases. New solar arrays generate about twice the power of V2 arrays. The arrays are made from a continuous roll of solar blanket cut into 19-meter sections, with four sections stitched together per array.
A Starship launch carrying V3 satellites will deploy about 20 times more network capacity than a Falcon 9 launch carrying V2 satellites. V3 technology will also support future Starlink Mobile Gen 2 satellites.
