SpaceXAI released Grok 4.5 on Wednesday as its newest coding and engineering model. The launch occurred on the same day OpenAI introduced new ChatGPT versions. Washington Examiner reported the details of both releases and pricing.
Washington ExaminerWashington Examiner reported that Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI launched Grok 4.5 on Wednesday. The company described the model as its newest and smartest artificial intelligence system to date. It is designed for coding and engineering tasks and now serves as the default model in Grok Build, the company’s software development platform.
Grok 4.5 will be available on all Cursor plans. The release marks SpaceXAI’s first model since the company went public and acquired the startup Cursor. Musk posted on X that strong positive feedback from customers in the beta test program drove the decision to release the model.
The model carries a price of $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. Musk stated that SpaceXAI’s internal assessment finds Grok 4.5 roughly comparable to Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 but much faster. He added that the combination of capability, faster speed and lower cost makes the model competitive.
Grok 4.5 was trained using the same compute capacity, hardware and electrical energy that SpaceXAI leases to Anthropic and Google. The model is not yet available in the European Union. On the same day, OpenAI released ChatGPT 5.6 Sol, Luna and Terra.
Those models are priced at $1 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens. Musk announced the Grok 4.5 release shortly after OpenAI’s announcement.
