The Bulls announced the death but did not release a cause. King played for the team from 1989 to 1994 after being selected sixth overall in the 1989 draft out of Oklahoma.
He appeared in 344 regular-season games with the Bulls, averaging 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds. He played a reserve role on the teams that won NBA titles in 1991, 1992 and 1993.
Playing career King was traded in February 1994 and later played for three additional NBA clubs before retiring as a player. He averaged 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 60 playoff games.
Broadcasting career King joined the Bulls broadcast team in 2007 and remained there for nearly two decades. His signature phrases included "Gimme the hot sauce!" and "Sriracha!"
