Sunderland rejected an £8 million bid from Chelsea for midfielder Granit Xhaka on Saturday. The club stated that Xhaka is not for sale at any valuation. The 33-year-old Switzerland international is under contract with Sunderland until June 2028.
Xhaka joined Sunderland from Bayer Leverkusen for £17 million and played 34 times last season. He missed just four league games, captained the side, and helped secure a seventh-place Premier League finish that qualified the club for the Europa League at Chelsea's expense on the final day. Xhaka is currently with Switzerland at the World Cup.
Chelsea have not received a formal approach for midfielder Enzo Fernandez, whom the club values at around £120 million. Chelsea are also set to sign Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra, while defender Marc Cucurella has already joined Real Madrid.
