Ukrainian National Extradited From Thailand on $340 Million Forsage Crypto Fraud Charges

A Ukrainian national arrived in the District of Oregon last Friday after extradition from Thailand to face conspiracy charges tied to the $340 million Forsage cryptocurrency scheme.

Anastasiia Ieriomina, also known as Anastasiia Ieriomenko, stands accused of participating in a global enterprise that used smart contracts on the Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain and Tron blockchains to operate an automated Ponzi and pyramid scheme. The Justice Department first unsealed an indictment against Forsage founders and promoters in 2022.

Ieriomina is the latest defendant brought into U.S. custody.

The scheme allegedly raised at least $340 million from more than 1.1 million investors across more than 100 countries between 2020 and 2022. Prosecutors say the platform promised returns from a multi-level marketing structure that relied on new participant funds to pay earlier ones, with smart contracts automating recruitment bonuses and matrix-style payouts.

The indictment charges wire fraud conspiracy and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Ieriomina's arrival in Portland federal court shifts the case from fugitive status to active prosecution in the District of Oregon. Arraignment and pretrial proceedings will now move forward under standard federal timelines, with discovery deadlines and motion practice governed by the Speedy Trial Act.

The extradition also triggers formal mutual legal assistance requests that Thai authorities fulfilled under the U.S.-Thailand treaty.

Downstream, the case requires the U.S. Attorney's Office to coordinate with the IRS Criminal Investigation division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation on asset tracing. Any restitution or forfeiture orders will depend on convictions or guilty pleas.

The Department of Justice has pursued similar crypto fraud cases through its National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team, which lists the Forsage matter among its priority initiatives. Additional defendants remain at large, and further extraditions or arrests could follow the evidentiary trail established in Ieriomina's proceedings.

This extradition forms part of the Justice Department's ongoing enforcement against DeFi platforms that blend automated code with multi-level marketing. The original 2022 indictment named four primary founders; Ieriomina is charged as a promoter. The case has already produced guilty pleas from other participants and parallel regulatory actions by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
