Several singles matches began on outside courts at the tournament. Scores advanced in sets on No. 2 and No. 3 courts during morning play.

A player ranked fifth won the opening set 6-2 before the opponent leveled the match at one set each. On another outside court a player who lost the first set 2-6 recovered to win the second set 6-4 and force a deciding set. The same player had earlier trailed by a break in the second set.
Court is scheduled to begin at 1:30pm.
Additional matches are listed for No. 1 Court starting at 1pm. Mixed doubles featuring the Williams sisters was added to the order of play. A 23-year-old player is also scheduled on Court 18.
