World Cup Final Tickets Reach Record Prices on Resale Market

The resale market for the World Cup final set new price records, with average tickets listed at $11,000 on Friday on the SeatGeek platform. This figure is eight percent higher than the average price for the 2024 Super Bowl and marks the most expensive event the platform has ever sold.

On FIFA's official resale platform the same day, remaining tickets were listed at $32,000. Earlier in the year, opportunistic resellers had asked as much as $100,000 for premium seats.

Australian supporters who attended matches described high costs for tickets, travel, food, and parking. One fan paid $2,100 for a single group-stage ticket and spent nearly $16,000 across two trips that included flights and accommodation. Another fan who led a group of 70 supporters reported that some group members paid more than $1,000 per ticket for Australia's matches, while others spent up to $2,000 for the match against the United States.

Stadium parking in Dallas cost at least $125, and an official bar charged $40 for entry plus $18 per beer.

FIFA projects revenues exceeding $15 billion from the expanded 48-team tournament. The governing body collects a portion of every resale transaction and introduced measures such as dynamic pricing and additional hydration breaks that increase broadcast time.

Despite the costs, fans reported positive experiences at street parties and matches. One 26-year-old supporter said the atmosphere and connections formed during the event made the expense worthwhile.
