AMD Adds 3D V-Cache to Select Ryzen PRO 9000 Workstation CPUs
AMD has incorporated its 3D V-Cache technology into commercial workstation processors with the refreshed Ryzen PRO 9000 series. The chips, built on Zen 5 architecture, will begin rolling out in the second half of 2026. Lenovo's ThinkStation P4 system using the new processors is set to launch in Q3 2026.
The VergeAMD is including its 3D V-Cache technology in commercial workstation processors for the first time with the release of a refreshed line of Ryzen PRO 9000 series chips. The Ryzen PRO 9000 series is built on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture. It includes chips with 6 to 16 cores and 12 to 32 threads.
0. Only select models in the Ryzen PRO 9000 series include the 3D V-Cache. Up until now, AMD's 3D V-Cache chips have mainly been geared toward gamers.
The Verge reported that they have also gotten better at creative tasks over recent years. According to AMD, the 3D V-Cache tech will be useful for complex, data-intensive workloads such as simulation, rendering and real-time visualization.
