QPR head coach Julien Stephan is close to agreeing a contract extension, bbc.co.uk reported. The 45-year-old Frenchman was appointed last summer on a two-year deal after succeeding Marti Cifuentes. Stephan guided QPR to a 15th-place finish in the Championship in his first season.
The campaign featured recurring injuries to key players and ended with four consecutive defeats. Before arriving in west London, Stephan managed Rennes and Strasbourg. He had two spells at his hometown club Rennes and led the team to the French Cup in 2019, the club's first trophy in 48 years.
Stephan told BBC Radio London in April that the season included many ups and downs. He described it as a strong experience and pointed to the good project, fans, management and dressing-room mentality as solid foundations.
