U.S. Ebola quarantine centre at a nearby military base. One victim was shot near Laikipia Airbase while a demonstration was under way and later died at the town hospital.

The second victim arrived at the hospital already dead; both bodies showed gunshot wounds. On Tuesday the same court extended the suspension and directed the government to release details of the project. President William Ruto said the United States had requested Kenyan assistance and described the arrangement as a mutual agreement between long-standing partners.

He urged politicians not to politicise the matter. Hundreds of demonstrators blocked roads and burned tyres on Monday; police used tear gas to clear the streets. The town remained calm on Tuesday morning under a heavy security presence.

Kenya has recorded no Ebola cases. S. medical personnel. Military aircraft have continued to arrive and depart from the airbase despite the court order.

Kenya's doctors' union and government watchdogs have opposed the plan, citing risks to local populations. "When President [Donald] Trump asked Kenya to support them by having a centre in Laikipia Airbase I gave the ok because it was an agreement with friends who have walked with Kenya for 30, 40 years," President William Ruto said Monday evening.
